Director of Education and CME Programs | Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association
Harrisburg, PA, Position Summary
The Director of Education and CME Programs serves as POMA's educational leader and primary staff expert on continuing medical education accreditation, conference planning, and professional development programming.
The Director is responsible for the planning, accreditation, implementation, and evaluation of POMA's educational portfolio, including multiple in-person, hybrid, and virtual conferences, webinars, and on-demand learning programs throughout the year. This position oversees the educational components of POMA's flagship Annual Clinical Assembly as well as regional CME conferences and meetings, leadership programs, and other continuing medical education initiatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with physician volunteers, educational committees, faculty, and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality educational experiences that meet accreditation requirements and support lifelong learning. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of ACCME and AOA accreditation standards, experience managing accredited continuing education programs, and the ability to effectively engage and support volunteer physician leaders within a member-driven association environment.
CME Accreditation and Compliance
Serve as POMA's primary staff resource regarding Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accreditation requirements.
Ensure all educational activities comply with applicable accreditation standards, policies, and reporting requirements.
Oversee the administration of CME credit tracking and reporting, including maintaining accurate CME records and ensuring timely submission of physician CME credits to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
Maintain accreditation files, activity documentation, and supporting records.
Prepare accreditation applications, reports, outcomes assessments, and supporting documentation.
Maintain organizational readiness for reaccreditation and accreditation reviews.
Educational Program Development
Collaborate with physician leaders and educational committees to create relevant, evidence-based educational content.
Develop innovative educational initiatives utilizing live, hybrid, virtual, and on-demand learning formats.
Evaluate educational outcomes and participant feedback to continuously improve educational programming.
Conference and Event Management
Lead the educational planning and CME administration for POMA's flagship Annual Clinical Assembly and other multi-day conferences, ensuring the successful delivery of accredited educational content across live, hybrid, and virtual formats.
Direct CME planning and educational content development for multiple conferences and educational programs annually.
Coordinate faculty recruitment, speaker management, educational planning timelines, and content review processes.
Work collaboratively with staff, vendors, and partners to ensure successful educational program delivery.
Volunteer and Committee Leadership
Serve as staff liaison to educational committees and physician volunteer leaders.
Facilitate committee meetings, educational planning discussions, and program development activities.
Build productive relationships with physician faculty, volunteer leaders, and partner organizations.
Support physician volunteers throughout the educational planning process.
Foster collaboration among stakeholders while ensuring projects remain on schedule and aligned with organizational objectives.
Educational Technology and Innovation
Manage learning management systems, webinar platforms, and educational technology solutions.
Evaluate and implement innovative educational delivery methods.
Support the expansion of virtual and on-demand educational programming.

Bachelor's degree in education, healthcare administration, public health, association management, communications, or a related field.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in continuing medical education.
Demonstrated knowledge of ACCME and AOA accreditation standards and CME program administration.
- Experience planning and managing accredited educational activities, conferences, or professional meetings.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder groups simultaneously.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and use new software as needed.
- Experience collaborating with volunteer leaders, committees, boards, physician faculty, and subject matter experts.
- Experience working within a professional membership association, medical society, or healthcare organization is preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for an accredited CME provider.
- Experience managing multi-day conferences with accredited continuing education content, including in-person, hybrid, and virtual educational formats.
- Experience with learning management systems and association management systems.
